Ribera del Duero

Uniqueness of the vineyard   Rigority of the climate

Soil complexity ·

The Ribera del Duero is an area where the vineyard expresses itself in a singular way in an extreme climate, on a diverse and complex soil.

The variety with which we make our wines is Tempranillo, also called Tinta fina or Tinta del País, it has a strong personality, and is adapted to the climate and soil that differs from other areas of Spain.

We feel that our relationship with the vineyard must be transmitted to our wines

Our current selection of production areas is distributed in the provinces of Soria and Burgos:

· ALCUBILLA DEL MARQUES (Soria), the eastern beginning of the Ribera del Duero. Centennial vineyards cared for with love and effort. Areas with altitudes greater than 900 m.
· PEÑARANDA DE DUERO, areas with old vineyards that ripen late and slowly. Grape with great personality

· SAN JUAN DEL MONTE, vineyard in a poor area, surrounded by authentic nature. Produces personal and powerful grapes.
· GUMIEL DE IZAN, centenary vineyard with aromatic, fine, subtle grapes.

· MORADILLO DE ROA, high-altitude páramo vineyards, with complex grapes and good acidity

· LA HORRA, safe ripening area, medium altitude and soil with bottom.
· ROA, vineyard with medium-textured soils, grapes that require a patient harvest to achieve complexity.

· NAVA DE ROA, plots with warm soils, early ripening and good aromas
· VILLALBA DE DUERO, plots with stronger soils, where the grape must endure on the vine to express  all its potential.

We look for diversity in the vineyards with different soils, altitudes, orientations..., but we also look for proximity to the viticulturist who helps us take care of the vines, we need the affection that is transmitted from generation to generation by the hawthorns that captivate them.

Valdeorras

Slates Atlantic Landscape

Our concern for finding wine-growing areas with personality, together with our predilection for the Godello grape, made us look at 2015 in a small slate vineyard in the Valdeorras area, on the slopes of the Galician river Sil.

The Godello is a variety that, cultivated with respect, transfers to the wine all the expression of the soil in which it is found. In our case, it is a very hard plot, on a steep slope and without hardly any soil or organic matter, which gives the old vines of this fantastic great white variety character and typicity.

Vineyard characteristics:

· Average altitude: 700 m.

· Soil: slate, poor in organic matter.

· Average slope: 13%.

· SW Exposure.

· Vineyard age: 25 years.

With the aim of respecting this grape as much as possible, and after 6 months of aging in tanks with its own lees, in June 2016 the first vintage of our CRAYÓN Godello on lees was released.
